Brewers Records |
|
The History Brewers were often a one man business in each village. With the development of malting's and good transport brewers grew in size with smaller brewers closing. What records can you find? The modern records centre at Warwick University maintain the archives of trade union records including the various brewers unions. A personal visit or hiring a researcher would be required as the records are not yet online. * The Brewery History Society are experts in old breweries. Whilst their main function is not family history they can help trace brewers and point you in the right direction.
County Records Office and Local Museums both hold records of relevant firms and individuals. Searches should be made firstly by the individual persons name, then by the firms name and lastly by the trade.
