The History

Wealthy landowner who owned several farms formed them into estates.

The management of these estates required documentation and accounts.

This documentation has often been collected to form estate papers

Personal information available includes workers records, payments to contractors,, purchases and donations.

Background information includes details of incidents , harvests,stock records etc.

What records can you find?

Estate papers can be accessed  in County Records Offices or in the case of some longstanding estates at the estate offices.

Many of the records have been used to create books providing the history of the estate.
