Post Office Workers Records

Delivering the post was labour intensive which mad the Post Office one of the largest employers in the UK.

Although most employed delivered mail to business or personal addresses post employed included stage coach drivers and even crews for post boats.

Some local records can be found in local museums and County Records Office.

The main repository for Post Office records is the British Postal Museum Archive which stores the employment records of postal workers from 1831 to 1956.

Data is not yet available online so to research this museum a personal visit is required although for those people unable to make the visit researchers are available to carry out the enquiry with the cost varying according to the researcher and the task required.
