Quakers

Quakers have been in existence since about 1650 when a preacher called George Fox began to preach that people could communicate with God without the need of a Minister to act as intermediary.

Through the years Quakers were persecuted but persisted in their faith.

Quakers meet in buildings which they call Friends Meetings Houses.

Birth, Marriage and Death records vary considerably from other churches:-

Baptism - No records exist as Quakers do not believe baptism

Marriage - Marriage ceremonies are witnessed by the whole congregation

The Quaker Family History Society website offers more information and maintains a library with extensive Quaker  material.
