The History

Shoemaking has a long history with most villages having their own shoe or boot makers.

In many older documents shoemakers are called cordwainers or cobblers.

Northampton Shoe Museum hosts a collection of shoes and associated artefacts.

The library holds records relating to shoemaking including an index of firms that made shoes and shoemakers
