Steam Engine Builders Records |
|
The History Steam engines caused a revolution to industry and framing. Not only were they used on steam trains but fitted statically for use in factories and in a variety of guises for farmwork. On the roads steam engines were normally called traction engines. Steam replaced the efforts of gangs of men. What records can you find? The modern records centre at Warwick University maintain the archives of trade union records including the various steam engineeer unions. A personal visit or hiring a researcher would be required as the records are not yet online. * County Records Office and Local Museums both hold records of relevant firms and individuals. Searches should be made firstly by the individual persons name, then by the firms name and lastly by the trade.
